Location
Lehn & Partner’s offices are located in Forum Bogenhausen, in the district of the same name in north-east Munich and in close proximity to Arabellapark.
There are excellent public transport connections by metro and bus. Our Bogenhausen offices are also close to the Mittlerer Ring ring road (B2R) and thus easily reached by car.
We began to embrace working from home for our employees over ten years ago. Alongside our advanced IT infrastructure, we thus also have all the expertise in managing remote collaboration within an interdisciplinary team – across Bavaria, across Germany and even across the world. Naturally upholding our strict data security requirements.
Our remote employees are currently located throughout Bavaria, providing us with additional expertise in close proximity to the market.
History
When our original founder, Heinz Lehn, established his office in the mid-1980s, he laid the foundations for Lehn & Partner’s development into one of the largest owner-run valuation and appraisal companies in Germany. Many of today’s management team gained their first experience in valuation and appraisal at Lehn & Partner. In their hands, the company has developed in keeping with the original founder’s vision: modern and future-facing, with flat hierarchies.
The Lehn & Partner partnership was founded in 2003 when Heinz Lehn’s son, Florian Lehn, joined the office. 2007 saw the addition of long-standing employees Markus Obermeier and Carsten Scheer as further partners. followed in 2011 by Prof. Dr. Hartwig Heyser and most recently by Sascha Machhaus in 2023. Lehn & Partner celebrated its 20th anniversary in the same year.
Lehn & Partner supports its customers with a comprehensive range of expert consultancy services, based on a reliable, process-oriented corporate structure and always independent. Our goal is to ensure long-term satisfaction for our clients, and we achieve it not through sheer number of valuations, but by providing bespoke consultancy services. We are particularly proud of our long-standing client relations, some already extending into the second generation.
Qualifications
VALUATION EXPERTS
The designation of “valuation expert” is not protected by law. In principle, anyone could describe themselves in this way. However, there are various qualifications that serve as accreditation of professional expertise; for valuation experts, these are primarily the status of being publicly appointed and sworn and holding DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024 certification. In addition, various specialist areas and fields of appointment apply. We are experts in valuation of developed and undeveloped sites, publicly appointed and sworn and certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024, and are a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Two of our experts at Lehn & Partner are publicly appointed and sworn, and the majority hold certificates issued by an accredited body in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024 and/or are members of RICS (MRICS) as chartered surveyors. At Lehn & Partner, we prioritize professional development and training and constantly aim to expand and extend our certifications. In addition, various colleagues at Lehn & Partner are members of valuation committees in Munich and in the regional administrative districts of Ebersberg, Erding, East Allgäu, Fulda and Vogelsbergkreis.
Lehn & Partner is an expert partner wherever independent and impartial valuation and appraisal services of all kinds are needed. Our expertise spans properties of all asset classes and types of use. Lehn & Partner’s team of certified surveyors and valuation experts can draw on extensive specialist knowledge, kept up to date by ongoing internal and external training and study. Our valuations are based on current market analyses to ensure the results reflect the market.
To safeguard the quality of our valuations, every assignment undergoes internal quality insurance auditing based on the “six-eye principle”. We use in-house developed auditing tools to verify the plausibility of complex calculations. The specialist and editorial content of our surveys and reports are reviewed by experienced experts on the basis of internal standards. Our quality assurance system guarantees process efficiency and consistent high quality throughout all assignments.
The real estate market is permanently changing and evolving. Lehn & Partner’s research team has a long tradition of cutting-edge research combined with professional archiving and collection of universal market data. We can thus supply in-depth market analyses that span past and future developments. Using data from internal and external real estate information systems, our research team carries out over 2,000 location-specific market analyses every year. These substantiated analyses provide the basis for valuations by our valuation experts.

PUBLIC APPOINTMENT AND SWEARING-IN / DESIGNATION OF PUBLICLY APPOINTED AND SWORN
Germany is the only country to use the professional designation of “publicly appointed and sworn [öffentlich bestellt und vereidigt]“ for experts. Appointment may be granted for a specific region or German state by a chamber of industry and commerce, trade, agriculture, architecture or engineering, or by the regional council [Regierungspräsidium] of a state.
The appointment application process examines the applicant’s personal and professional ability to perform valuations and exceptional understanding of the specialist area in question. Officially appointed and sworn experts are generally appointed for a period of five years. Before reappointment, the competent authority reviews the conditions of appointment to ensure they still apply, paying particular attention to ongoing continuing training.
CERTIFICATION UNDER DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024
The European and international standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024 for certification of persons governs the requirements that must be fulfilled by the offices granting the certification. In Germany, the responsible office and top level of the certification body hierarchy is the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle (DAkkS). The specific qualification under DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024 is awarded to certified experts on grounds including completion of rigorous written and oral examinations, constant monitoring of valuations produced, and recertification after a maximum of five years. Continuing training is also a requirement and is monitored.
RICS
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is a UK-based, internationally operating association of real estate professionals and real estate valuation and appraisal experts. The aims of the organization include the promotion of international standardization and compliance with high standards of training and professional practice. RICS awards the title of MRICS (Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) to individuals that pass an assessment procedure (Assessment of Professional Competence, APC) and final assessment.
